Let me tell you something about Cohen…he is an over rated misogynistic hack. I know a woman who was married to a man(a lover of all things Cohen) her husband was a chronic cheater. never was faithful to his wife. one day the wife passed by the open lap top of her husband. His email browser window was open. in her husband’s sent box was a return email entitled “My Hawk”. it was a nickname given to this woman’s husband and a direct reference to a leonard cohen poem by the husband’s girlfriend. when the wife contacted the ‘girlfriend’ of her husband she asked about the ‘My Hawk” reference. the girlfriend explained,”oh i call him my hawk because i envision ‘him as my hawk soaring high in the sky and i am standing on top of the mountain and you are on the ground waiting for my hawk to land”. the other woman in the marriage explained this as if it was totaly normal to secretly betray another person and it was all based on some fantastical, arrogant poem of leonard cohen.

Excellent writing as always. And thanks for showcasing a wine varietal that people seem to think can’t age past a couple of years or so. I love my older Zins, and even the jammy fruit bombs can get a little tame with a few years of rest.
